This has happened to me on a few occasions. However, when a book becomes available, you are alerted over email and can download the book. I’ve been on the waitlist for Sheryl Sandberg’s book “Option B” since last November. You’re given a number and the wait time is not very clear. My experience with the waiting list is hit or miss. It also shows you how many people are also on the list ahead of you. You’ll have to get on a waiting list if you see a book you want to rent. Overdrive doesn’t have as big a selection of books as Hoopla does. Once the book is due, it simply expires from your device, like Hoopla. It’s free, and there are never overdue books to worry about. If you live in a smaller town and your local library isn’t listed, ask a friend or relative in a bigger city for access to their library card. In Oakland, CA, there are several libraries, and Overdrive had all of them listed. Your local library needs to be in Overdrive’s database, but if you’re in a big city, it shouldn’t be a problem. You also need your library membership card number to sign in. This is another free app that was recommended to me by my local library. Where would I be without Overdrive ?! I use it on a daily basis because unlike Hoopla, you can rent up to 10 free audiobooks per month!
